Tim's Pumpkin Patch - 2016 Visit

Joan and I trekked out to Tim's Pumpkin Patch for our annual Fall visit.

The weather was ideal. The crowd was sparse, but the several workers were very helpful. Near the entrance was the friendly Buffalo.
The ram was closer to the Harvest House.
Joan picked out some gourds and pumpkins. Also she purchased a molasses cookie for me and a Chocolate-chip for Bradley.
Inside the barn we came upon A Little Free Library.
A young worker obliged me for the T-Shirt photo.
On the Harvest House roof the Wicked Witch of the West and Toto still ride.
Unfortunately she met her fate trying to escape.
A great day for pumpkin gathering.

Week Thirty-Nine - 13 To Go

Sebastian Junger attempts to make a compelling statement but as one reviewer noted, “A nation of 320 million will never be a tribe”.

Million Dollar Quartet

"Million Dollar Quartet" is a recording of an impromptu jam session involving Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash made on December 4, 1956, at the Sun Record Studios in Memphis, Tennessee.

This evening Joan and I attended our fifth play of the 2016 season, Million Dollar Quartet.

The actors played their own instruments. It was a great performance by all. No intermission, but a great encore.

Of all of the talented actors on stage, the standout for us was Noel Carey’s Jerry Lee Lewis.

Week Thirty-Eight - 14 To Go

Always look forward to reading a new addition to the Bess Crawford mysteries, but was disappointed in this novel. Let’s declare World War I over and allow the mother-son team Charles Todd to have Bess and Sergeant-Major Simon Bradford wed.

Week Thirty-Seven - 15 To Go

The Trial is a novella (novel lite) in the popular Women’s Murder Club series by prolific American author, James Patterson. The fast pace and  the good twist at the end made this a quick enjoyable read.

Mexico Point State Park

On this beautiful Labor Day Joan and I decided to revisit Mexico Point State Park.

There were several families enjoying the park when we arrived. In fact, we had to park in the overflow lot.

The new bath house provided rest rooms which we appreciated after the long drive.

There are numerous carved statues around the grounds.

Carmen Basilio
Goin' Fishin'
Bessie Maude
Mexico Point Inn Waitress c1910
Joseph Brant
Thayendanegea
Mohawk Chief and Guide

Also, notable on the grounds is Casey's Cottage.
Ruins of Mexico Point Inn (fireplace).
Leaving the park we drove to The Pleasant Beach Hotel for dinner. Unfortunately it was closed for the holiday.

Another great day to traveling the roads of New York State.

Week Thirty-Six - 16 To Go

James Patterson’s latest Michael Bennett thriller tackles an election theme. Once again Michael Bennett’s character drives the action. Some Patterson faithful might  miss the Bennett family interaction, since only Brian is allowed to come forth in this novel. Also, the excessive gun details can become irksome. Overall this novel is a welcome addition to the Bennett chronicle.
