Emita II - Syracuse to Seneca Falls

Arrived at Dutchman's Landing at 8:33 AM. Captain Dan was in the parking lot; he directed us where to park.

The crew, Meg, Lisa, and The Quiet One (a young man who never did introduce himself) greeted us at the gangplank of the Emita II. After placing our gear on a bench on the upper deck we made our way to the continental breakfast table on the lower deck. We both had a delicious cup of coffee and I had a creamy Danish. We ate our food at a table on the lower deck.

Promptly at 9:00 AM we left the dock. There were four Mute Swans in the water.

The first lock of the day was Lock 24 in Baldwinsville.
Through Lock 24 we came upon Paper Mill Island.
The canal banks, Cross Lake, and the locks were gathering places for fishermen:
There were several gnarly trees along the canal banks.
Several boats passed us over the course of our journey:
Erie PA
Canoe - Richmond Aqueduct
Solar Sal - Troy NY

The Emita II went under many bridges:
Howland Island
Old Train Bridge
Howland Island Bridge
Thruway - Seneca River

The Richmond Aqueduct also provides a highlight and great photo op.
The Erie Canal Seneca River Split
 The Clyde River
Double Lock at Seneca Falls
Entering Van Cleef Lake

Trinity Episcopal Church is one of the most photographed tourist scenes in Upstate New York.
People encountered on the journey:
Jean & Stan from Cayuga NY
Al from Nashville
Glenn from The Canal Society
4 people aboard an Erie Canal Cruise Hire Boat
Some birds seen during our canal voyage were:
Great Blue Heron
Ring-billed Gull
Bald Eagle
Canada Geese
Turkey Vulture
Great Egret

Also seen during the day:
Mute Swans
Tree Swallows
Rock Pigeons

Our bus driver returned us safely to Syracuse.

Another successful day on the Erie Canal.
